It's taken me a long time, but...

Well, it’s taken 51 years since I rode my first National Championship, but I’ve finally won one! ⁦‪BritishCycling‬⁩ Masters’ Circuit Race, I category. Most people who will look at this blog probably know me as an administrator, organiser, or official in the sport we love, cycling. But at heart, I’ve always been just a bloke who likes racing on a bike. I never won many races, (until now, my biggest win was the 1971 Lakeland Division Championship - did I mention that before!?). So this one was special. And achieved through some hard work and persistence over a long period of time, on a nice bike, second hand, in the national champion’s colours, so I had to live up to it. Thank you to everyone who sent me nice messages. I'm especially honoured to receive the congratulations of several people who have won many more races than I ever did, including Champions at all levels. And of course, friends, family, colleagues, acquaintances - thank you, everyone. See you around. Everything comes (eventually) to he who waits!
