Join me in Calpe - March 2023

Cycling friends - I've been asked to put together a group interested in a week in Calpe in the Spring with the Baguet Bicycle Center.

Proposed dates are Saturday 18 March to Saturday 25 March 2023. The venue will be the 4 star Hotel Suitopia in Calpe, Costa Blanca, Spain. Price for half board (Bed, breakfast and evening meal) would be 717Euros per person, with a single room supplement of 25Euros per night (i.e. 175Euros for the week).

The price includes the hire of a newly-arrived Ridley Fenix carbon road bike with Ultegra Di2 12 speed and disc brakes, so no need to bring your own bike (just bring your pedals), plus a place on the daily guided rides, which are in A, B, C groups according to ability.

The Suitopia is a really nice modern hotel, recently built, with all the facilities such as spa, gym, massage therapies, outdoor pool, children's play area, etc. The restaurant is excellent with a very wide range of food at both breakfast and evening meal, including vegetarian and vegan choices from a huge buffet area. Rooms are very spacious, with a large balcony, and a direct view over the sea. It's ideal to bring non-cycling partners and family.

The price does not include flights or transfers, so that you can travel from the airport of your choice at a time of your choice. Alicante is the nearest airport, about an hour away by bus/car.

Calpe is of course a great place to ride, very popular with WorldTour and other top teams. I've stayed at this hotel, with the Baguet Bicycle Center a number of times and can personally recommend it. When I was there in January 2022, Quick Step and Mark Cavendish were also there, along with a number of other teams, so it is well experienced in looking after cyclists!
